Who is coming:

Over 1000 people from all over the globe will be meeting in Sydney to attend the 5th World Conference. Attendees will include those working directly with victim-survivors such as domestic, family and sexual violence workers, anti-violence advocates, shelter and refuge workers, counsellors, social workers, public health, and other non-government organisations. Others attending include human rights advocates, allies, specialists working on specific forms of GBV, academics and researchers, stakeholders, policymakers, legislators, community and corporate leaders.

We would like to hear from:

  • Feminists and women’s rights advocates looking to volunteer at the largest conference by and for those working at the grassroots to end GBV.
  • Students, retirees, and anyone who can commit their time
  • Anyone over the age of 18 years

When:

  • The conference is being held over four days - Monday 15 to Thursday 18 September 2025.
  • We have three main days: Monday, 15 September (midday - 5pm), Tuesday, 16 September (7:30am - 5:30pm) and Wednesday, 17 September (7:30am - 5:30pm)

Volunteers will help us with activities such as:

  • Welcoming attendees, ushering and answering their questions
  • Assisting concurrent session rooms/organisers/speakers as needed
  • Overseeing transitions between sessions

  • Communicating with and taking direction from 5WCWS/Wesnet and ICMSA staff as required. ICMSA staff are our Professional Conference Organisers and will have ICMSA on their name badge
  • Ushering delegates and speakers as required

Benefits:

  • Access to some conference sessions on the day(s) (when not required to volunteer)
  • Catering in the Volunteer’s space (morning/afternoon tea and lunch on the day of volunteering)
