Study Tour 02

Tribal Warrior Private Charter Cultural Tour

Embark on an unforgettable journey aboard the Mari Nawi, or "big canoe", and explore Sydney’s stunning Harbour in the warm and welcoming company of your Aboriginal hosts and crew.

As you cruise the world’s most beautiful harbour, you’ll hear captivating stories of the Cadigal, Guringai, Wangal, Gammeraigal, and Wallumedegal people, the original custodians of the lands surrounding Sydney. Learn the Aboriginal names and deep cultural meanings behind significant Sydney landmarks, enriching your understanding of this iconic city.

Your adventure continues as you step ashore on Be-lang-le-wool, known today as Clark Island. Here, you’ll delve into the lifestyle of a pre-European Aboriginal coastal settlement. Through the wisdom of your Tribal Warrior hosts, discover traditional fishing methods, food gathering techniques, and the sustainable practices that have sustained Aboriginal communities for thousands of years.

The journey culminates with an exhilarating Aboriginal cultural performance, where you’ll witness traditional dances and music that celebrate the rich heritage of the First Nations people. This immersive experience offers a rare and authentic glimpse into the living culture of Sydney’s Aboriginal communities.

Join us for a journey that’s as enriching as it is enjoyable and leave with a deeper connection to the ancient traditions that continue to thrive in modern Sydney.

Study Tour 07

Jesuit Refugee Service Australia - Accompanying Women on Temporary Visas along the Pathway to Safety (morning session)

Women seeking asylum and on other temporary visas face significantly complex barriers to safety from gender-based violence. In Australia, our systems and mainstream services fail to recognise and respond appropriately to these complexities, leaving women on temporary visas at significant risk of further violence, and lacking the pathways to safety and justice that residents have. Jesuit Refugee Service Australia's Finding Safety Program which operates out of the JRS Women's Space in Western Sydney is one of only a handful of services across Australia with the capacity, skills, and resources to bridge the gap between the immigration and refugee sector and the DFV sector. This interactive tour will allow participants to experience a day in the life of the Finding Safety Project. Participants will be encouraged to reflect on how do we as a nation achieve the goal of ending violence against women within a generation, when women on temporary visas, experiencing violence in Australia are excluded from so many lifesaving supports?
